Moto Guzzi has today revealed a brand new model
at the Milan Motorcycle Show, the Breva V 1100.
With this bike Moto Guzzi say they are hoping to
rekindle memories of the V7, a model particularly successful in
the States, by designing a tireless, mile eating tourer. But now
with very high standard of reliability and finish. BMW market share
is in Guzzi's sights here.
Comfortable, easy to ride, lavishly equipped, and
technically advanced, the Breva V 1100 is perfect for intensive
daily use. It is made with everybody in mind, Guzzi fans who would
never ride anything else, ex-Guzzi riders returning to the fold,
and everybody seeking to discover the pleasures of Moto Guzzi's
unique riding style.
The engine is fuel injected with twin valves per
cylinder and new lighter weight internal components. Power is 86
bhp @ 7,500 rpm and torque 63 lb-ft @ 6,800 rpm.
In brief, the new engine is lighter, better lubricated
and vibrates less, for a more comfortable ride and better performance.
The most significant technological innovation is
the single sided swing arm with integrated, patented "reactive"
shaft drive which is supposed to be very smooth and to eliminate
much of the traditional shaft drive effect.
The styling is an eclectic mix of traditional and
modern, with a familiar front aspect, v-twin engine and analogue
clocks, but with LED rear lights, optional "info-entertainment"
systems, optional ABS, matching Moto Guzzi helmet and that single
sided swing arm.
It will be available in red, grey or black. Colour
matched panniers are also available, of course.
Dry weight is 231kg, and it has a very useful 23
litre fuel tank.
Price and availability dates are yet to be announced,
but we estimate a cost of around £7,000 and availability early
June 2005.

Excellent first review.
Nip down to your newsagent for a copy of MCN in which you'll find
the UK's first review of the Moto Guzzi Breva 1100. They put it
at the top of its class, knocking its main competitor, the BMW
R1150R, into second place on character, competency and price.
Not a bad start!
Update: 01/06/05.
First batch arrives.
We've now received our first allocation of the the Breva 1100,

a call and book a test ride this weekend....you know you want
to! See the demonstrator here.
