Launching at the Paris Motorcycle Show this Friday is the new Aprilia Tuono RSV1000R for 2006. Aprilia have maintained their winning formula of taking their full-on RSVR sports bike and simply taking of the fairing and adding flat bars and launching it as their naked bike. It's significant that still no other manufacturer has had the nerve to do this without watering down their naked offering. The '06 Aprilia Tuono will have every bit of the RSVR's handling and performance in a barking badass package that'll give you more fun than anything else on two wheels. The 1000cc 60° v-twin magnesium engine now develops 133 hp and an impressive 75.2 ft-lb of torque at only 8,750 rpm. This, plus a rigid but super-lightweight frame, top quality suspension, radial caliper brakes with four separate pads, and a whole range of world class components make the new Tuono impossible to beat when it comes to performance and handling. It comes in Fluo Red, Grey or Black Price is the same as the last years model at £7,648 OTR (as Aprilia are counting it as late '05 model), but the price will ride to slightly over £7,999 from the New Year. Availability will be over the next few weeks. Update 04/11/05 - Our first batch of 2006 Aprilia Tuonos have arrived. Two red and one black. Come in and have look at them in the flesh; the photographs really don't do them justice. Remember, these bikes are at the old lower price, so don't hang around! Update 23/12/05 - As part of their "Enjoy Me" scheme, Aprilia have announced a free extra 3rd and 4th year (or up to total of 50,000 km) warranty on the '06 Tuono in addition to the initial 2 year "legal" warranty. It's transferable to a new owner too, so it should keep resale values heathy. The owner needs to register for it at the beginning of the third year, and needs to maintain the bike as per the schedule by a properly qualified technician (ie your Aprilia dealer). Update 14/11/06 - For 2007 the Tuono gets the 139bhp V60 Magnesium Evolution engine that's fitted to the Factory version and three new colour schemes (see pics) Update 08/11/07 - For 2008 the Tuono gets some subtle updates and modified colour schemes with a new white model.
