Today at the Milan bike show, Aprilia revealed its new RSV1000R and Factory bikes. They have undergone many more updates than a quick glance at the photos might suggest.

In common with both models:
- Aprilia have spent a lot more time in the wind tunnel, changing nearly every panel to improve the aerodynamics and rider protection.
- Bigger air vents for better heat management in extreme conditions.
- Redesigned "Air Runner" air intake that is said to add an extra 4bhp at speed.
- There are now fewer panels and fasteners to improve access for maintenance.
- The tail has been redesigned to give a higher, meaner look (as per the new Tuono) and now has a brighter 16 LED rear light.
- The engine head is reworked with larger exhaust valves and collector pipes which, together with an updated Seimens ECU gives a claimed additional 6bhp, taking the total 143bhp.
- The steering angle has been increased by half a degree to 25 degrees to improve stability.

For the RSV 1000 R there's also:
- most obviously is the upgrade to Öhlins forks with titanium nitride coating for stiction-free action.
- two new colour schemes in black or red.
- weight 189kg.

The additional spec. for RSVR Factory is:
· Fully adjustable Öhlins rear shock
· Adjustable Öhlins steering damper
· Gold painted, forged aluminium wheels
· Carbon parts kit fitted as standard
· Seat made with non-slip racing upholstery
· Frame finished in gold
· Pirelli SuperCorsa Pro 120/70 - 190/55 ZR 17 tyres.
· Available only in black.
· Weight 185kg

Availability is expected late February 2006, with the price of the RSVR set at £8,999 and the Factory at £10,499 .

Update 15/05/06: In the world's most authoritative and objective Masterbike 2006 test, the Factory has been crowned the fastest production motorcycle in the world. 16 of the best motorcycle magazines timed 26 of the best bikes around the Jerez circuit in Spain for 1,000 laps, with the Aprilia gaining the fastest average time and gaining the second highest rider survey score (72% vers Ducati 999S 21%).
